HOW MANY WORMS DO I NEED?
REMEMBER...........Worms will eat half there body weight a day!
Example:
Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds produce 7 lbs. of organic compost in a week. 1 lb. of worms will eat 3.5 lb.s of compost per week (0.5 x 7) meaning they will need 2 lbs. of worms (3.5 x 2) to break down the compost they produce each week.
Redworms 1/4 lb. (Approx. 250-300 worms)
This
amount works great for teaching kids a fun and educational starting
point on composting and worm biology. This amount also works well, as
a small starting amount to see whether or not you want to vermicompost
and, if they are kept in proper conditions they will multiply to a
greater number for more production.
